Is raising kids as a single parent less favorable than being in a stepfamily?

Friends,

This is our last part of several short interviews with Ron Deal, the national authority on Step-Families and author of The Smart Stepfamily: Seven Steps to a Healthy Family; Smart Step Mom; and The Smart Step Dad. Ron has appeared on national radio and TV broadcasts in the US and Canada and has been interviewed by Fox News, ABC Nightline, ABC News, WGN TV and CBN TV.

Here are our questions for Ron:
In what way can single parents that are about to become a stepfamily minimize the dynamics of their new stepfamily?

What are some of the things couples need to consider ‘before’ they become a stepfamily?

Is raising your kids as a single parent less favorable than being in a stepfamily?

One out of every three or 60% of Americans has a relationship with either a stepparent, a step or half sibling or a stepchild. Today, one out of every three marriages are stepfamilies. This translates into a staggering 100 million people in the US.

We want to equip you and those you know who need real life practical answers to the concerns that step families or blended families face. In an effort to provide these answers we will provide video interviews on our YouTube channel called Afterdivorce1 and video blogs on our web site at Recovery After Divorce.com.
