In our last blog ‘The Wise’ from our series Everyday Wisdom we saw that the first mark of a wise person is that they know who is in charge. They know who to salute to.
Those who know most know how much they don’t know and are lifelong learners. The ears of the wise are always open to more truth and have a thirst for it.
The second mark of a wise person is thatThey Continually Seek Truth
Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance…Wise men store up knowledge…and the heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out. Proverbs 1:5; 10:14; 18:15
The wise are open to truth and know they don’t have a corner on the truth. They are open to truth wherever it is found. For them there is no difference between sacred and secular. The wise know that the whole truth and nothing but the truth is found only in God. They commit themselves to learning more about Him for the rest of their lives. If you want to grow in everyday wisdom you will make God the major pursuit of your life as well.
Join us for the next mark of the wise.
Shalom,
Mark
